Architecture of the Magic Lounge Virtual Meeting Environment

This paper describes the architecture of a shared virtual meeting environment called Magic Lounge. Magic Lounge is designed to support meetings between people who would like to collaborate with one another using a range of heterogeneous devices including PCs, PDAs, and mobile telephones. It has been necessary to adopt and combine a number of different technologies (such as CORBA and MBone) in order to allow interaction between heterogeneous devices. This paper discusses how the design and implementation of the architecture of the Magic Lounge has evolved over two years, to accommodate the various requirements of this type of meeting environment.
